A friend of mine was up fishing Spirit lake on Saturday. Here's the report...

Ice;

There is 13-15 inches of ice on the lake.

Fishing:

Caught lots of Bluegills and only 10 were keepers but released them anyway. Also caught two Hybrid (pumpkin seeds) but no crappies. Also, there was a big group of guys who had about 30 tip ups out and not one of them caught a fish.

Spoke to the boys from Fur, Fin, and Feather in Siren today. Nothing but good reports! Now is the time guys! Get out and get at 'em!

From what they said most of the lakes around that are have no less than 12" inches of ice. People are driving everywhere! As for the fish, they are catching decent fish on Wood and Trade. I heard the crappies in the deeper water on Spirit are picking up a bit.

I did not know these were in Yellow Lake but I got this one in front of Ike's on Saturday. Lost a huge walleye at the hole. It might have been the biggest one I ever had a chance at landing. I guess I will need to hook her next time. Slow but steady action all day on Saturday for walleyes and perch. The fish would just stare at my offerings on Sunday.

Nice. I've caught a few of them here and there on Yellow Lake over the years also. Are they tullibee? Not sure. Usually caught them suspended when I thought they were crappies on the flasher. No report from me as I didn't make it up there. Hope to this coming weekend. Thanks for the report. Good Luck.

If you're coming across from Hinkley, the Log Cabin Store in Danbury is a good spot. I usually go to Wild Bill's on the north end of Webster. Fur, Fins and Feathers north side of Siren has a pretty good selection, as does Big Mike's a few miles east of Siren on 70.
