who makes the best software for L.O.W

GPS Chips? Navionics has extensive coverage of LOW and many, many Canadian lakes.

lakemaster has 2008 edition just for lotw.i broke down and bought while back.im very impressed with it.

For the canadian side I recommend the navionics, but I havent used the newest lakemaster yet. Lakemaster came out with the 1 foot contour map and I did not like it at all. It missed islands and wasnt very accurate compared to the Navionics. The Navionics looks just like the maps you would buy in the local tackle stores, but just in GPS form.

Agreed on the Navionics. LOW is on the 07 and 08 chip in Hi-Def which is really nice because it contains better contours in Hi-Def.

Where can the Navionics be purchased in Northern Minnesota. Have seen the Navionics Hot Maps but it sounds as if this chip is different. Ist that correct? If so, where can i purchase?

Go to Reeds or Cabelas, whichever is closer. Order them off the net. Make sure your unit is compatible with whatever chip you choose. That information is on the navionics site. The chips are "Hotmaps" and they come in different varities, like classic, platinum, premium, etc.

Don't worry they are one and the same. As proV1900 said they do come in classic, gold, etc. The most common and best one for this area is the premium.

Got an early version of the '08 Lakemaster chip and I am impressed! Our island in Miles Bay showed up as a blob on the HotMaps chip I had and subsurface was very general.

The new '08 Lakemaster shows the real shape, actually shows the small bouy that marks the water intake, and shows detailed contours to perfection. I am amazed at what they got on there.

Can't wait to get out and explore and fish with it!

Even the small buoy that marks your water intake? That's insane! I might have to take back what I've said earlier about the concept of more detail...I simply thought they would choreograph the detail, or "fill in the blanks" from something with less info, but if they are showing your water intake buoy then that has me impressed, bigtime.

I don't know that I could say the Lakemaster chip is the bomb. I have noticed some big discrepancies from the paper map to the chip. Apparently, they will come out with updates including Sabaskong Bay.
