Strike Lite

I love my Strike Lite especially for it's light weight. I have noticed specifically on cold days after drilling holes, the auger does not stop spinning fully after I let up on the throttle. Has any body had this same issue and would I just need to adjust the throttle cable or? Again it is only most noticeable on cold days and one day when it was -15 it was very noticeable.

You could try to turn down the idle speed a bit, but that probably is not the issue. Something else to try would be this. Drill a hole about 6 inches deep. Stop the auger, push down on it hard and then squeeze the throttle enough to rev up the engine so that you can feel it trying to turn the auger. Hold it there for about 15 seconds and release the throttle. Repeat that process a couple of times. It helps break in the clutch drum and frictions so that it will coast easier at idle. Wait a minute or so between cycles so the clutch can cool off. That usually takes care of the issue.

fishinlocal,

If the problem persists you may just want to call Strikemaster. I had that issue, pretty much all the time and found that my oil had overflowed and gotten everything oiled up.

I had that problem when my strikelite was new. I adjusted the idle speed down via the carb setting and the problem was fixed. I'm going to Strikemaster this afternoon. If I find out anything there I'll let you know.

Fishinlocal,

The guy at Strikemaster thought your idle speed was probably adjusted too high. I sometimes had trouble with the auger not wanting to idle between cutting holes. They checked and adjusted my idle up. BTW, they also replaced my busted auger with a new one eventhough I was past the warranty period, actually one with an updated design, at no charge. \:D Gotta love that!

I called Strikemaster today and they had me adjust the idle a bit but that didn't fix the issue. They then said to either bring it to them or ship it to them (shipping paid by them), or to take it to an authorized service shop. Since I live 90 miles from Strikemaster I took it to the nearest service shop to fix it. Strikemaster thought it was a clutch issue. I will let you know.

Huey...They updated the design of the auger? What is different?
