If you are concerned with the cost of the H2Oc, then you should get the H2O and take what is left over and buy the lake chip. I use the H20 and love it. paid the same with a ship compared to buying one and chip for over 300.

I got the H20C and it is great. I got my H20C and the new 07 LakeMaster for about $270.

It is always nice to have a buddy who works at Gander Mountain part time for some extra flow because then you can get deals as well :-).

The H2Oc will suck down batteries but if you are like me I use the AC power cord and plug it into my AC plugin on my 4 wheeler I can go all day and not have to worry about batteries when I am ice fishing. Same thing for the summer plug it in if you have one.

The color is a way easier to read but you do need the backlight on all the time otherwise I can't see the screen which sucks.

I bought the Lake Master chip & the H20 2-3 years ago. Shortly after that I upgraded the depthfinder in my boat to color with gps. It's kind of nice, but I honestly don't care. I find that my chip is in the H20 most of the time, just because it's easier. If I hop in somebody else's boat it comes with. I too use the AC cord almost all of the time. It's plugged in inside the truck & rarely comes out onto the ice unless I can't drive right to where I want to go.
