Northlander
I have been fishing out of my New Otter Ice Camo House quite a bunch now. I have had it in 40 plus degree weather down to -45 wind chill days. 40 plus mph wind gusts as well. Some things I have noticed about this line of houses that has impressed me are: 1st off -the new stronger metal to plastic pole design has been flawless, even in the coldest days I have been out. No metal on metal really does help here. No squeeky or binding poles with this design.2nd- The new flexible windows do not get brittle in the cold. This should end any cracked window issues.3rd- With the heavier canvas and black inner coating these houses heat up very nicely and retain that heat better. Plus you can get your house darker for site fishing if you like. 4th- The new seat design is a bit taller than the Pro Series seats. If your on the taller side like me you should like this. Plus you can slide the seat forword and backword as well as left and right. Of course they swivel as well. They also tilt back up and out of the way for when your storing supplies in the sled.5th- The optional Sportsmans Caddy is very handy. I have gotten tons of stuff in it and it protects whats inside as well as keeps it all dry. 6th- Same old bullet proof Otter sled that has proven itself for years over and across many many miles of ice and snow for many ice fisherman. Best sled on the market in my opinion. I highly recomnd the new Ice Camo series houses just as I have recomended the Otter Pro Series houses for years. slim1
what do they run a guy in the med. size?
Walleye Guy
The most common price I have seen (no sales yet) is $699. I have one and it works very well. I do have two problematic "buttons" on the poles that I am going to need to address. Everything else is great. The new canvas is outstanding. PerchPounder
I was checking one out very closely today that was on sale for 499 it was the medium lodge I believe it may have just changed my mind from a new FT Yukon.
slim1
that don't sound to bad for 499. I've had them since the second year they made them, I work where they are made and Kevin the guy that runs Otter is a great guy to work with. The plant there grew 3x since I worked there so they most be more popular now then ever. I love the one I have now.
Surface Tension
Otter thought this new model over well. The Ice Camo will catch your eye at first sight. One can't help walk up and feel it. You'll notice thicker material, 900 Denier fabric with that blackout inner coating. As Northlander said and my first thought, it'll hold that heat in better. The flip up seat base system is a huge improvement whichmakes access to the tub so much easier. Also the support bracket runs length wise with the tub. Now you can get the auger, rods, and spreader poles out without lifting the seats or brackets. That makes setup and take down less of a hassle, bottom line you'll be more apt to move more. That support bracket will also accept a line of accessories like the Sportsman's Caddy. New improved pole system with oversized nylon insert and premium grade, hardened aluminum tubing eliminates binding.
harvey lee
I checked out this new house at the Ice Show and it has many nice new improvements. The new seats that slide back and forth are also a nice improvement.
Tullibee
are these new otters in the same dimensions as the old ones? wondering about an upgrade of just the shelter not the poles/sled.
Surface Tension
Ice Camo shelter uses the same Otter tub. Poles are an improved design. I'm not sure if the pole dimensions are exactly the same as the other Cabins. You can ask Otter if they are and if purchasing the shelter without poles is an option. jwhjr
I looked at one of these at Fleet Farm today, I like the feel of the new fabric. They had the poles taped off where you would collapse them, so I wasn't able to see how they operated. It's definitely a new look too, they'll catch your eye until they become common enough that they're everywhere.
Northlander
I wouldnt get the camo without the new poles. The new poles are awesome even in severe cold. SMOOOOTH!
MinnesotaMongo
I saw a rather plain post on another site that offers things for sale, indicating that they might possibly be having a sale? It was their phone number. It might be worth checking out.
Gem-n-eye
I would agree with Northlander these seem like very nice houses especially the seat design. The one thing I think is a problem is the "buttons" seem to stick inside the pole. Walleye Guy any idea how you might fix this issue? I've been doing some research and found replacement buttons at Springmasters but have no idea what size to order. Maybe I'll try Otter next week and see what they say.Gem[Note from admin: Please read forum policy before posting again. Thank you.]
Northlander
E-mail or call Otter and have them send you the metal ones. The plastic button covers catch inside the poles on the edges of the holes at times. I went to metal ones and have not had any problems. Or just take the plastic caps off the buttons you have now. They pull right off once you pull them out of the pole. I used a long locking hook remover to pull them out. I do recomend going 1 size bigger because the tab will now be a bit small. I highly suggest calling Otter and getting some of theirs or asking what size to get. I dont know what size I have.Oh and I also put some light gun oil in the poles where the button tracks and that seems to have really helped everything run smoothly. Although I dont think I would have needed it I was woried about the button draging on the pole and possibly squeeking. Total silence on the poles and very very smooth set up and take down. If you have the Ice Camo model I highly suggest ordering the Sportsmans Caddy. Super nice storage and places for GPS, beverages, tackle boxes, waxies, towels, TP etc. etc. etc. They just made them so they may not be available for a while but they will be very much worth the wait.If you have any questions about your Ice Camo Otter feel free to e-mail me. I may even have a few extra clips laying around.

Northlander
Otter has always been very good to work with. You will really like the way those poles work with the metal spring clips.
markinthemslabs
Should I buy one? I can't seem to find them anywhere in my area. I live in Fergus Falls, so I would like to buy one if I knew where to find on at. E-mail me at: [email protected]Thanks.
Northlander
Call or E-mail Otter and they can tel you who has them by you. Or just order direct through Otter. Shipping was cheaper than my gas to go pick mine up. If your going to fish 2 guys in it a lot go with the Mag Lodge size. If you fish alone mostly get the cabin. I have the cabin and its a great roomy 1 man and a ok 2 man in a pinch. Should you buy one? I have no problem at all recomending the Ice Camo line to you. Mine has been great. All the Otter houses I ahve used have been great.
