How much is to much

Timmy - Thanks for the hats, they are well built and actually fit our block heads very well...

Fullmoon - I cant leave well enough alone, those St'croix blanks are awesome but do you think I can get away with sanding them at all? They are solid so should be sandable. Would like to make the last 3-4 inches a tad softer and then maybe paint them. You ever paint blanks?

Should be ok to sand them as long as you go easy. I'd use real good paper and high as 400. Go wet too, don't want to heat them. I've painted blanks before. There are a couple ways to go. You can even dip them. I've got an article on technique if I recall. I'll look for it. Epoxy and thin it. If you ever need to cut them, I can show you how to do it too. If you want patterns for weaves, let me know. I have a few someplace and I might still have the program I used to design them. A needle point program works just fine, need to set the scale is all. Like I said, I've got lots of things you might want to see.
