Twins DH

I was just looking through some of the available players that could be a good DH for the Twins. We some what discussed Kubel, but looking outside of the Twins.

Piazza? Old, has a good bat yet.

Bonds? Comes with alot of problems.

There are a few more free agents out there, but what would you guys think if the Twins signed Bonds? Would you welcome him, or boo him off the field?

I'd take him, but it is a no chance that it happens. I don't want Piazza here either. Kubel will put up better numbers than him, Bonds would most likely be the best option as far as production goes, but do you think the Twins would sign him? There aren't any teams willing to sign him right now.

Sosa is still out there? - YUCK!

Tony Clark?

Luis Gonzales?

this is what SI.com had about Barry and the Twins-

Twins: The idea of the Twins loading up to make one last run for a title with Johan Santana is a nice fantasy, but even with Bonds in the lineup, they'd lack the team to make it happen, and the Twins aren't exactly known for making big free-agent splashes.

I think Kubel would make a good everyday DH he needs the at bats.

Before Christmas I was talking with Jake Mauer Sr at his home and he was talking real high about kubel, the old man was trying to tell me he would lead the majors in homers one of these years he just needs to play everyday. Never know what could happen.

We've seen the power of Kubel. Sometimes he mis-hits the ball and it flies over the fence. I just wish he'd swing a little more freely. Looking at all those strikes drives me nuts when he could be making deposits.

I would rather see kubel play everyday than see monroe splitting time with him, just because i would like to see what kubel can do with a full season playing everyday. There's a reason he was a top 5 prospect in all of major league baseball before he got hurt, if he hadn't gotten hurt he would already be an above average hitter. I think if playing everyday he will probably hit 280 to 300 with 15-20 homeruns and 80-100 rbi's. Last week one of the writers for si or espn had him in the players most likely to have breakout seasons next year. We will see but i really hope they give him the opportunity to play everyday and show people why he was such a highly regarded prospect up until his injury.

Kubel was on the fast track and I would like to see what he could do on a full season too, but I would think 425 AB might be the most he will see.

I guess it depends on what happens in Center. Monroe, cuddy and Young could run around in center opening more ABs for Kubel.
