Big Weekend

Big series coming up and no banter yet? Pretty confident that my Sioux flag will continue to fly. Sure would be sweeter victories with Okposo playing. Hats off to the little old men in pin covered vests. That's class. ;\)

So I'm assuming from your comments that when the Sue lose you take the flag down? I will also take my hat off to those classy men wearing the bewitching pin covered vests...I like those guys! Has anyone heard whether the great people at Mariucci are going to respectfully play "Oh Canada" for the visiting Sue this weekend?

The Sioux certainly are carrying some momentum into this weekend with 7 wins in a row! They are now ranked #3 in the nation! I would like to think that UND will get another sweep this weekend, but for some reason I think the Rodents might get lucky and pull one out at home. Go Sioux!

Flag flies until the Sioux lose. Since I will be watching the games in my shack on Red... well, read between the lines. ;\) Amazed at how civil this stayed. Good job guys. Enjoy the games.

If the Gophers don't sweep they are really going to struggle the rest of the way.

If they don't at least split, I will struggle for a year. My wife is from ND, and her sister and brother-in-law (from Grand Forks and Sioux season ticket holders) are coming down for both games. They just love to give me grief when the Sioux win and the Gophers lose mad.gif - the opposite is also true grin.gif

So go GOPHERS!!! My weekend depends on YOU!

that's because the maroon and gold suck this year \:o

seriously if the gophers had a more competitive squad this year, I bet you would hear more trash talk. Watching the team this year has made me apathetic. I still don't like the sioux-age and hope the gophers don't embarass themselves and can get the sweep. But I'm a realist, and know that's unlikely to happen this weekend. Hopefully the gophers can prove me wrong \:\)

I will be at the game on Friday with my two friends who are, unfortunately, Sioux Fans. If the Gophers lose it will cost me a 6-pack and some pride so I'm hoping for a victory for the maroon and gold! I am thinking...

Friday: U of M Gophers-3

UND Fighting "whatever their name will be next year"-2

Saturday: UM-1 UND 4

bryce, it was sarcasm, i am not a very PC person. Just trying to rattle some cages and get the rivalry heated like it should be. As far as the tatoo, i didnt know they could tatoo near v*g*n*s.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
