Deer and Bear

Recommended Posts

I have some hunting land north of Blackduck that I deer hunt. Over the last few years I have seen many nice pics of beers on my trail cams. I have never beer hunted but I would like to start. I was wondering if baiting for beers and drawing them on to the property more would effect the deer hunting at all?

Here's a answer for you ...... it depends.

The thing I would be most concerned about is all the extra commotion and activity in the woods from you runnning your bear baits.

Depending on how much land you have and what the terrain is like, can you do your bear hunting away from where you deer hunt?

Bear season ends long before the deer firearm season, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it affecting gun season. But if you bowhunt, especially in the early season, then I'd be concerned about it.

If you only firearm hunt for deer it will not be a problem. Most people give up on bear after the first couple weekends. If you don't shoot a bear by the small game/archery deer opener it gets tough because the woods get hit pretty hard with foot traffic and the bears become nocturnal.
