Is it just me or is anyone else looking back at all your trail camera pictures and wondering what or where I can put them for next year. I'm already thinking about new locations for my bow stands and even picking up another ladderstand. FYI, FF had 15'ladder stands for clearanced price of $44. That's $10 below there cost.

I'm even taking advantage of this cold snap and moving stands in places that are very hard to get to during the warmer months (frozen lakes). This was my first real dedicated year to bow hunting with some good hunts with a miss on my first quality buck and I have several 10ptrs relating to my woods. Sorry for the ramble but I'm really wanting to fast forward to September 13th and start bow hunting again.

I sometimes wish I had that dedication for deer hunting, but unfortunately for me, I like to fish too!

You're the kind of guy that will have the drop on the best that deer hunting in your area has to offer.

I've built two hang-ons, cut shooting lanes and will be buying two more hang-ons in preperation for this fall. I never stop scouting, shed hunting, moving stands, etc. I've also already bought more clothing for hunting for this fall. I have the hunting blues right now. Some fishing helps but it aint hunting.

Last friday afternoon I went and put up another ladder stand and It was very easy to find there routes and bottle neck areas. By using the snow it gives there direction and bedding areas away and made it easy to figure out my stand location in no time. This just might be the best time to scout all year because of there "cow paths" that they make to and from there bedding area. I hope in the next week or so to start looking for sheds because there not traveling far at all.

Just beware that the time of the year will alter the habits and daily routines of the herd in your area dependent upon food source and available cover. What may now look as a "done deal" ambush sight might not be worth a hoot come October. The currently depleted mature oak trees that don't have a single track nearby might be the place to be. Then again the funnel or travel corridor you've got pinpointed could be there for a reason and well-used year round. Mark the area in the back of the brain and/or gps and re-check for sign come Sep and see how ya did. Every property is different and I speak from experience. One area I hunt hasn't held a deer since early Dec. Scouting in the snow is definitely helpful. One of my favorite times to be out walking in the woods. Might even find a shed.

you are so right about that. The main reason I put a stand up was getting to the location. Normally I have to use some form of canoe or boat to access this private property. I could have done this in the soft water season but I'm afraid it would "educate" the deer in this very remote location. I'm trying to keep this some what low profile without details but getting a stand in here is some what a challenge.

And yes I know where they are spending 100% of there time and they have been more or less just walking around me with not a care. Almost like cattle. I see them, they see me but when it's hunting season they know. I'm really excited to find a shed this winter hopefully because there has been some unbelieveble rubs but I have only manage to see one buck in this particular spot. I know there has to be a handful of bucks but they are definetly illusive.

That's neat. I've always to do a hunt accessible by boat/canoe only and have the rack hanging out the front of the canoe on the way back... perhaps once I get drawn for MN moose season. Hopefully someday.

Put a trail camera in that location and scout it that way for a bit. Invaluable tool.

yes I had a cuddyback to barrow as a work perk and had to give it back just last week. Now I'm in the market for cheaper cameras to cover several locations that I can depend on. Those cuddybacks are just way to much money to be leaving in the woods for months on end unless I have it behind the house or something.

I don't remember the post from the past but I'll look it into it another month or two and see what is the best for the money and how many I can get. I just wish some body could come up with with one that has B&W and you could just stick a fuji disposable in it with up to 100 picture compatible then sell it for $50. They would be over night millionaires.
