Nope, signed an agreement of __________. To recieve further mailings and try before you buy products. They've got free return postage.

Perch Jerker...Its cool i know your not directing that comment at anyone in particualar.. Its just An aweful lot of hype in the letter they send out. I think if they just flat out said what they were about I'd be more comfortable making my own decision about the product without having to draw my conclusion from other peoples experiance

Yes, he's serious. They'll keep sending bills, but you never have to pay them if you didn't ask for the item.

I too am a life member, and I love being one. Networking is great through the club. Met a lot of nice people.

As for field testing, you write a long detailed report, and they only pick a small excerpt from you field test article. That's why it's so small in the magazine. Look at the rating numbers to get the true feelings of the people, the quotes aren't informative.

And yes, if you fill out a field test profile after every item you get, you will get stuff to test. IF they send you an energy bar, make sure you fill out a new profile afterwards. A pack of $.80 hooks, fill out another profile. Eventually you'll get something good.

Matt and Sparce...I'm having a difficult time understanding this. Why would I get a call from a collection agency then? I'm guessing which eventually and probably already is on my credit.

The one problem I had with NAFC is when they double billed me and I unknowingly double paid it. Then they said I missed one payment for something. They called. I refused. They sent the amount to a collection agency. I got monthy collection letters for a whole year. Phone calls every so and so.

That's just bad bookkeeping on the part of NAFC and bad verification on my part. All in all $19.00 to stop the harassement. I'm a life member and their customer service given to me was very poor show. I suppose all the little packages and postage sort of evens out the allegedly unpaid bill. I don't think it was mentioned in my credit report or just not mention to me from any loan officer. Yet I'm still a life member.

Likewise when I first joined FM, I recieved a few cold shoulder comments. I'd seriously thought of not coming back for a while. Yet, I'm back.

I guess I err on the side of beauty rather than ugly. LOL's

Maybe someday, I'll make it to the list of field tester. Until then, my opinions are my own and reflected on the internet.

My advice is to try it out, look over the magazine, and if you like it become a life member. The dues for life membership don't amount to much if you consider that you will be getting the magazine (which is pretty good) for life. The other stuff is just bonus stuff, but you can get good things.

I think it would be dishonest to sign up for the items without the intent of paying for them, regardless of the law.

There is a lot of hype in the letter, trying to get you excited and trying to get you to join. But everything in the the letter is true, they don't send out wrong or misleading info. But it can be difficult to comprehend unless you read everything carefully. But .....

You will get their magazines. You will get free products to test if you sign up the way they tell you to sign up. They will occasionally send you products to preview, which you can decide to buy or you can return them at their expense (and if you don't buy the first one or two they won't keep sending them out to you). All the other benefits they list are real also.

If you like that and want to check out the magazine, then sign up. If you don't want them to send you other stuff, call them and tell them that you only want the magazine.

Perch Jerker,

I used to work there too, as an intern and later a writer. I think it is a great magazine with better editorial content than most. I have most of the books, and the content is good, albeit a little elementary.

Also, in the past it had the greatest freshwater readership in the world at over 3 million subscribers! I think that even beats In-Fisherman's subscription totals!

It's too bad that some have had bad luck with the mailings, from what I understand a phone call would usually do the trick, but according to some here, maybe not...

i was part of north american hunting club- im almost posititive that its from the same company or whatever because they sent me stuff to join north american fishing club(i wasnt fishin much then so i didnt join it)...well they were honest, but like previous posts mentioned they really make it sound like a big deal and its not. i got a bunch of coins and they will send you books without ordering them. There were some good deals, i purchased a knife and a whitetail book for like $7 i think. i didnt bother to renew my membership the next year. its not something i would join, but i didnt have any problems or anythin.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
