Has anyone ever fished the Bass Lake contest in Somerset. Im thinking of going this year but hav'nt found any info? I heard last year the big prize was a new truck and less than 1000 people were there.

The contest is Feb.23rd This years prize is a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 4X4 Last years attendance was about 1100. $ 50,000 in prizes given away see syaa's 4th annual bass lake ice fishing contest

I fished it last year and got 49th place and won a power auger. It was fun and I will be back again this year.

hey fishinlocal, do you know anything about squaw lake near somerset? i have fished it in the spring/summer and did well on bluegills. tried it 2 weekends ago and didn't get a bite. any info? thanks.

I have my permanent on Squaw. Last year we did real well, but this year for crappies it has been terrible. I know most of the people who fish the lake regularly and nobody has had any real luck this year with crappies. The sunny bite was good after first ice but that too has slowed way down.

sparkydm, I have not fished squaw but a buddy fished it early ice and didn't do all that well and said there was A LOT of green stuff floating in the water. Good Luck!
