What's up with NY

Recommended Posts

After all these years on this forum I finally started to read other state forums and different catagories, we in NY seem to be so far behind and don't have the number of fishermen that the mid-west guys do. I think I'm moving to Illinois for the fishing and the hunting. Who coming?

In my opinion forum usage and number of NYS fishermen dont relate that closely...

I know that most of my buddies from back near Albany fish "almost" as much as we do but they have no desire to participate in a forum setting, but they are out there fishing.

The forum setting isnt new, but lets face it, many fishermen may not be into the online world or dont know the value of information sharing and how much it can increase your knowledge of the fishing enviornment that we live in and around....

Now hunting on the other hand, Im with ya! Lets go west....

I think I'd have to say that I find guys to be less open and friendly around here when it comes to fishing and hunting. That's ok though, we sort of the chaff this way and once you get to know someone, it's less likely you'll get burned. Tim and i discussed this a few times and we met some of the same "clowns" and both have the scars to show for it. Maybe it's due to less big bodies of water, a weaker DEC (DNR) than many other states, I don't know. I got lucky and met Tim and a few of his old crew by chance. Actually got introduced by a guy we both avoid now! lol Lucky for me though. Me, I share, knowledge, my biz, and whatever else I've got to offer. A close knit group is nice to have, less worries. Hope to meet more of you in person, in the mean time, you'll have to go by whatever Timmmy has to say.

It has to be that way for the puddle jumpers but the main big body lakes I don't care. That's why I'm here. Prying eyes are everywhere and if you think they don't read pm's your soarly mistaken. It's unfortunate this godfather setting, but it's for the protection of the smaller fisheries I assure you, that's what means most to me. If lurkers don't want to contribute it's fine by me it's "our thing".

Hey Full, I know who your talking about!!! Boooooooo to him, I think he's the biggest lurker..... LOL Right Tim, I warned you many times my friend. lol Speaking of meeting, how the [PoorWordUsage] did we actually meet Tim? I think we met on IS and ended up fishing together at Six Town or Lebadon, I'm not sure.

I'm not always the most friendly person on the ice because I love to fish and what little time I do get that's all I want to do and save the chit chat for later but I'm learning to be a little more social on the ice.

Wow Lee you can't remember.. I think it was right after Up-North shut down the forum and we flipped to FM and IS looking about. Trying to remember the places we fished hmmm, Muskellunge, Williams Park, Big Bay, Aero, Six Towns, Lebanon and Silver, right? I think it was 98 or maybe 97 was Mike and I's first trip on the ice with you at Six, also a failed attempt at Deruyter last season. \:\( Did we ever get on a hot bite once? whistle.gif

I remember that first trip, "Remember what you said, act like I was surprised to see ya so your pirate buds wouldn't flip." That was funny grin.gif

On that other deal., yes you told me so.. Not just once if that makes you feel better \:\)

Tim,

Don't feel bad, I had to bump my head a few times before I remembered to duck. What makes it worse...look what I did for a living! lol Joke was on me. Turned out ok. We met, I'm here and you trust me. Pretty fair trade if you ask me!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
