swampbuck
I will be near Cancun, actually Isla Mujeres in March for a family trip I will be booking two days of sail fishing with a boat I have been on a few times before. Want to know if anyone will be there and would want to come fishing and split a trip? Lots of hook ups and a lot of fun. 20 minute ferry ride from Cancun to the island then fish from 8:00 - 3:00 let me know if you want to go! I've never tried fishing in cancun yet, didn't think it was a real hot spot. Good luck
mnwild
I'm going to be down there Feb 9th - Feb 16th and that was one thing we plan on doing. We rented a house in Puerto Morelos which is abotu 20 miles south of Cancun. People I am going with went fishing down there last year and said it was a blast so I am really looking foward for this trip.
swampbuck
I have fished with The Keen M This boat is owned by an American who lives on Isla Mujeres a small island off Cancun google KeenMsportfishing $900 bucks for the day (not cheap, but well worth it, they fish hard!! fish from 7:00-2:00 back in time to hang out on the beach with family but still get a good days fishing!. We run out about 10-40 miles and troll ballyhoo for sailfish. Last year we did stop trolling after a few hours and bottom fished caught a lot of hard pulling fish. snappers Amber jacks etc... Big waves are the norm this time of year! If you think you may get seasick dont go! Dont know much about south of Cancun. I have also spent a couple days with a guide in Cancun, fishing the bays and canals between hotel zone and airport. Small (5-25lb Tarpon, snook, and sharks) a lot like bass fishing. If you bring your own gear you can fish off shore and do ok, top waters, and spoons for barracudas. small 1/8 oz jigs with Gulp! shrimp catches everything. traveler
Nice pics swampbuck:) I just read a report one of the saltwater websites saying the KeenM caught 15 sails today, with the bite just starting to pickup. Feb-march is high season there from what I've read, is that when you've gone? Never been on the atlantic side, I've fished Mazatlan and Cabo on the pacific side extensivly, where we chase striped marlin instead of sails. It's all good:)
swampbuck
what site is that? I would like to check it out. Yes March is the best month to go. I fished Ixtapa last year as well. Bigger sails and a chance at a Marlin there.
