Yesterday, I fired up my dad's ice auger for the first time this year. It took a long time to get it past the choking stage. Eventually, I was able to run it, albeit at half choke. I took it out last night and no problems.
This morning, I could only get it to start briefly, but not to run longer than 30 seconds. Any time I turn off the choke altogether, it dies. I took it home, messed with it, and can only get it to start if I pull out the air filter and splash a little fuel in that way. I can get it to run briefly at half choke, but it always dies.
I know my dad has messed with the jet and idle screws to some degree. Would it help if I reset these and start over or do I likely have a bigger problem? If so, how do I do this? I do not have an owners manual....is it like a chainsaw where you just screw them down tight and back off 1 full turn?
I want to go fishing tonight but all the small engine places are closed....and it's getting tough to move around much with a hand auger.
