Crappieman
I am sorry if I offend any one, but having a degree in biology still does not mean I could ever compare the death of 6 million jews, or even 20 million Russians to animals. There are wrong opinions. These are the ones that have no supporting evidence. This is even more over the top, and not even worth the paper it is printed on. I am going home tonight and have some fried chicken and will not connect this to millions of innocent people who died because of the Nazis. Lets not even go into what Japan did. Raven
I don't think any true sportsman condones mistreating any animal. However, I also believe that animals and fish and birds were are here to eat. I have never heard of PETA conducting a campaign against the death penalty, which I don't believe in. Just remember that when you deal with those folks from PETA you are not dealing with someone who has a full deck. I would like to know where their money comes from. I thought there was a petition being sent to the IRS to remove the "tax exempt" status of PETA. That might dry up their source of income.

chunkytrout
Well, I guess in my view animals that have been put under stress show it in the quality of their meat. Anyone who has tasted the difference between free-range and factory knows this. That stress is caused by living conditions (ie habitat). If you have 500 head crammed into a feed station sleeping in their own waste, it's going to reflect in the meat. We've already seen the effects of unsanitary slaughter and butcher conditions. Those animals live a miserable life and deserve a little better treatment for their sacrifice to us. It's a win win situation if we provide a healthy environment and thus receive healthy product. When we killed the family farm with factories, the damage was wide spread. My O 2.chunky

Guest
Chunky,Free ranged animals do taste better and are healthier for consumption. For your information, cattle, sheep, and goats are taken from "free range" ranches to the slaughtering houses. Chickens can not be free ranged because the free range supply can not meet the consumption demand. Swine should never be free ranging. Ecosystem devastation will be the result from free ranging swines; not to mention, it is extremely dangerous to gather free ranging swines for butchering. Steve Foss
Thanks Chunk, good to get your thoughts on that. I agree, by the way.Pork, beef and chicken we raised and slaughtered on the farm/ranch always tasted better than store-bought.

Steve Foss
What those PETA activists did was a theft, and illegal. Since you'd legally caught those fish, which were in your possession, they were your property.PETA stole them. I've always been suspicious of people who have to break the law (like vandalizing fur coats with red paint, spiking trees to get loggers' saws shot, etc) in order to make their point. If their point was strong enough to begin with, they wouldn't have to do those illegal things to get people to pay attention. When activists are that obsessed about things, it's really about THEM, not the larger issue they are preaching about. Guest
PETA have they gone too far.... I'd say Get this a few years back I was out fishing at my favorite lake. I was out early in the morning and fished hard until noon. After catching my share of walleyes and and bass I decided to leave. I went to the boat landing and loaded my boat on the trailer. After pulling my boat out of the water and getting evrything squared away. I decided to go try my favorite crappie spot, just a short walk down shore. I was there for a couple of hours and caught some nice crappies. I came back andI noticed there was quite a bit of people at the landing. little did I know PETA was having a demonstration. I put the fish I caught in a cooler along with all the other fish I caught that day. then nature called so I went to the rest room leaving my cooler by my truck. When I came back I saw some people making off with my cooler. I started to run after them and yelled at them to stop. They said we are going to free the fish you pig and proced to dump my hard earned catch back into the lake. I was furious I din not know what I was going to do. I decided to get in my truck and leave before I did somthing that would get me in trouble. If you ask me PETA can go to H..lwhat do you think.
