Cold Blooded dad needs hunting boots

Hey guys, need some help here. My dad is very cold blooded and his feet are always the first to get cold... it usually ends the hunting and fishing early. He and I both have been looking and looking for a good pair of boots that is going to keep his feet warm while sitting on the ice or sitting in the stand. If you guys have any advice for me to pass on to him I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

If you are not walking many miles get him some lacrosse icekings i think, i get a pair every 3-4 years, they are kinda heavy, but i call coyotes and sit bowhunting in them when its cold, like 20 below for coyotes, i sat bowhunting this year when it was 0 for 3-4 hours and my feet were nice and warm, or maybe getsome military bunny boots, i hear good things about them. Biggest thing is not to sweat in them and put felt insoles in them to give you another barrier between the ground.

I bought a pair of boot buddies from Gander Mtn a couple of years ago for Deer Hunting. I just wear my 400 Gram Rocky's to the stand slide on my buddies and sit for the whole day. They work great and your feet dont get all wet from the walk in.

I've got a pair of Rocky Blizzard Stalkers that work great for sitting in the stand or ice fishing. I have yet to get cold in them. They have removable liner compared to the Rocky Snow Stalkers.

Another idea is the Arctic Shield boot blankets, these are suppose to work great!

Well, for some reason my dad seems to be "that guy." He's the guy that is always cold. It could be 50 out and he would be cold. I am not sure what his deal is but with the hunting and fishing we do, I think the ice kings will be just fine. We don't do much walking at all during deer hunting other than from the vehicle to the stand which is normally a very short distance. I also know that he has a lot of those good water wicking socks that he wears for running marathons. So if he does start to sweat, I think those socks as a base layer would help out a great deal. All I know is his feet are not normal. Probablly circulation problems or something. Who knows

Ever tried the boot pillows? They are over stuffed soft covers that go over the boots once you get to the stand. When my mom used to hunt she used them and never got cold feet. I've only seen them in Cabelas, but I'm sure they are at other stores as well.

JB you are absolutely correct. I found that out the hard way. I never gave it a thought that as I was putting a pair of regular cotton socks on under my wool socks that the cotton doesn't do a darn thing for you. All it does is hold moisture and make your feet cold. I should have paid attention to the socks I use in the military.

Those booties... I told my dad about them and he had thought about them but from what I gathered, he thought they would be more of a hassel once he got into the stand than they were worth. I on the other hand think they would be a cheaper addition to what I already have as opposed to buying a brand new pair of boots and letting the old ones gather dust. Oh well I guess its his money not mine.

How about the battery powered socks? Socks do make or break the boot, and can keep your feet dry to help with the heating.

I know they make heaters for the back of ski boots....I wonder if they have something similar for regular boots.....

I used to sell clothing for Northern Outfitters out of Draper UT and you will not find a warmer boot. You can go barefoot in them. I sold them to women and older folks with the guarantee that if your feet ever get cold in these boots I will buy them back and I NEVER had any one contact me except to say thank you for the warmest boot sever. My bothers and father (76 yrs old) all own a pair and we are stand sitters and ice fisherman and have never gotten cold. Most of the dog sled mushers in Alaska use them. They have also been redesigned in the last few years to be less bulky then their original design. I did see a pair in Sportmans last year. You will not be disappointed.

Yes, I have them both.

Arctic is for very extreme cold weather and the Mountain Pack Boot will work for any type of MN winter hunting or fishing.

Remember, neither boot you would want to hike in. But to sit or mossy around the woods or ice fish in would be just fine.

Where do they sell these LaCrosse Ice Kings? Cabelas? I am one of those people that feet get cold instantly. Anyone ever tried the Inferno I think they are called at Cabelas? One more thing, how much are the Ice Kings?

My dad just bought the Ice Kings from bootbiz.com.... I think thats what it was called for right around 100. Free shipping and all that jazz. He said that that was the cheapest price he was able to find. Straight from Lacrosse they were 120.
