Wheel house 110v and12v?

Just picked up a new wheel house and I was wondering how everyone goes about keeping there batteries charged for the 12 volt components...regular battery charger? Also, how long can I expect to be able power a furnace and a couple twelve volt lights off of one 12 volt deep cycle?

Thanks

I use a charger/converter like the ones sold at Fish House Supply http://www.fishhousesupply.com/12vlights.htm . These units will charge the batteries and run everything in your house at the same time. You can also purchase a tow and charge from them which will charge the batteries from a running vehicle.

As far as battery duration, it totally depends on the quality and size of your battery. I would say you may get a solid 24 hours from 1 very good heavy duty deep cycle. I run 2, 100 amp hr, heavy duty, Power Pro batteries and get almost 2 days, less if it is really cold, worth of run time. You may want to add a second battery hooked up in parallel for a longer run time. You would be wise to run it in the driveway at home for a test, to reveal all the surprises before heading out on the ice for a trip.

A week ago I purchased a small 850 watt generator from Menards and the plan is to run it during the day to charge everything up, and fish quite (on batteries) at night. The generator is 60 decibels (the same as normal conversation) 39 lbs and cost about $130.00. It seems to run and start good so we will see. My biggest concern is keeping the noise to a minimum.

I hope this helps and good luck.

I can't answer your question about powering your furnace because I have an Empire direct vent and I use computer fans to move the air. I bought a marine on board charger and mounted it to a plywood backboard in the storage area under my bunk. The charger is a Pro Sport 6 amp and I got it on hsolist for less than half price. Whenever I am hooked up to 110v I am charging my batteries. I leave it plugged in when it is in my driveway. I leave my generator in the topper on my pickup and plug the ice shack in during the evening long enough to give my batteries a charge. Works well for me.

My battery is under the cabinet in the front of the house and runs all the 12 volt-mostly just lights and a cigarette lighter( to charge the cell phone) I built a shelf above the battery and mounted the battery charger that is hooked up all the time to the battery. My gen. sits in the back of the truck. I uesd one of the outside electrical outlets with the little door on it to pluge the gen. to the house.

Ran 110v also in the house to power tv and to charge the sonar and all the other stuff. My furnace is a forced air unit. I turn the gen off when everything is charged and the battery will power the lights (not led) and the funace all night. I have never pushed to see how long it will go but the ligts are still nice and bright in the morning and I know I have waited till noon to start the gen.1000watt honda is very quiet.

well i have a 20 ft house with 4 lights 3 of them 25 watt and one exterior porch light, a three outlet cig plug, a cd player, and a 12v to 120v inverter and it seems to run about a full weekend without charging but i bring mine home and charge it if i dont bring my generator with. But with the generator what i did is also install a 120v to 12v power inverter that runs off of the generator and that powers everything and the extra power that the inverter puts out it backfeeds to the battery to charge it and it takes about 3 or 4 hours with the generator running and it is fully charged again and you can run the battery for a few more days.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
