Who has Humphrey style propane lights?

I just installed a camp style propane light. How do these work in ice shacks? How do the mantles hold up while traveling? I have the pre-formed sytle. Thanks!

the lamps are great but be sure to have ventelation, as they burn oxy while running. the preformed mantels are suppose to be better for traveling but any good bank will do them damage in some cases. the thing about the preformed is you have to be cafeful handleing them. dont touch the mesh part at all when installing them. i have tried them with no avail they would just burn up when i pre burnt them. ... paul

Thanks Paul. It sounds like I need to pre-burn them just like you do the tie-on type, correct? I didn't get any directions in the box.

I have this gas light in my fish house - I replace the mantle every time I travel - not necessarily every time I move. I bought a big package of them and it is about $1 something per mantle but when gas is $3 the dollar for a mantel is kind of peanuts.

Humphrey Series 9T is a more flexible mantle that is made for traveling. There used to be a ceramic mantle for these lights, but I don't know if you can get them anymore.

I used my gas light last night for the first time and really like it. I probably will not use my 12 volt system much anymore unless I want serious tunes on my stereo. I have a gas furnace, stove, and light now, very convenient.

I'm going to set it up so I can plug in to my truck if I want 12 volt for backup lighting/music. I'm done hauling batteries back and forth and charging them.
