Canadian Gathering

Recommended Posts

There has been some recent interest in an FM gathering somewhere on the Canadian side of Lake of the Woods.

Kenora, Sioux Narrows, Crow Lake, any other suggestions.

Let's start out by picking a location (or two) and a species (or two) and go from there, maybe decide on a date after we decide on what type of fishing people are after.

I live in Kenora and could probably get a discounted rate at a nice hotel. Maybe Muskie Bay Resort could help out too?

For those unfamiliar with the area, Sioux Narrows is about an hour and a half from either Baudette or I-Falls. Kenora is about another 45 minute drive (car) north of Sioux Narrows. Lake trout are typically sought after around SN/Crow Lake, and the walleye fishing gets pretty good around Kenora.

Let's hear some input...

Hey Hemlock,

I would be interested in hosting a FM get together at my resort on Lower Manitou Lake. It is only about 1 hr. from I. Falls/Fort Frances. I could put together a special depending on how many guys we could get together. I think we would have to look at something in late feb. or march, to make sure we had enough time to get the word out and also to make sure that our ice conditions have time to get back into shape. There is tons of slush in my area and I would guess the same would be said about crow right now, it will improve over time when we get our cold jan. temps. Let me know what you think?

I have no clue on my schedule right now but depending on date chosen and location I am always willing to try something else. I am not in northwestern ontario at the moment but I will be back next week and have a better handle on my availabilty.

I am game. Especially for Lake Trout!!! smile.gif Hey Outfitter17, can you come up with a price on how much to stay at the resort for the weekend? Say arrive Friday night and stay till Sunday mid-afternoon? I might be able to find some Ely FMers who might want to come along! Sounds like a great time! Keep us posted on what you want to do and thanks, Hemlock!

Outfitter, my apologies for not mentioning/including you in the plans.

I am more than willing to put that out there for people and we'll see if we can do a combo trip, or exclusively at your resort for that matter.

Personally, I'm probably going to have to stay close to Kenora just in case there are any flare ups at my business.

I just want to help organize something easy and fun, and hopefully catch a few fish and have some evening social activities.

Hey JustinG,

I can do it for $90 per person for the weekend, this will include:

Cabin, all you cooking utensils, (we should do a fish fry one night) a suana, a 15,000 watt generator to charge all the electronics, maps with laker spots marked out for you, and endless lake trout water.

We can also put together a price with food included if you guys are interested?

If we get enough interest from fellow FMers we could shut the camp down to the public and only have FM members there.

What weekends work good for you Ely guys?

Let me know,

Matt

Hey Capt.

It is a 6 mile ride from our parking lot to the camp. Depending on snow depth it can be with a Atv or snowmachine. Once you are at the camp you can fish right off the island. If guys don't have machines but want to come, we can transport them to the island from the trucks and they can just fish around camp or we can bring them out to different spots and back again.

If anyone else has any questions, just let me know.

Hey Outfitter,

Yeah, shoot us a price for the food included! Sounds like a good deal! Are we talking $90.00 American Currency? Just wondering. I have a snowmobile, so that is no problem.

Maybe sometime in February?? Doesn't matter much to me. I have to go back to work in March, though. So that could complicate things.

Maybe post this info over in the BWCA-Duluth-Range forum once you get it all figured out as almost everybody in that forum is a die hard trout fanatic who is willing to travel for fish! grin.gif Myself including!

Let us know what you think.

Justin

We can do all the meals included for a total of $140US. The meals will include a breakfast and dinner. Each customer will need to provide themselves with lunch, snacks, and beverages for the two days.

We will provide the juice and coffee.

Right now I can do Feb. 23rd weekend and March 8th weekend. Let me what you guys want and I will book it out for an FM trip.

You can call or email to be put on the the reservation list.

You guys should respond quickly if intersted, we can only take up to 18 people.

Thanks,

Matt
