Jiffy synthetic

Just wondering if anybody has tried it yet and any feedback they have? I think it mixes a little leaner, but nothing drastic. Is it out on the chain store shelves yet?

Not ready to run the lean Amsoil yet.

Thanks!! Hope everybody is having a good season so far!! Be safe! wink.gif

Jiffy oil is a synthetic blend and has been on the shelf for several years in a 24:1 ratio.

This year Tecumseh has approved a 40:1 for use in all of their (Jiffy or Strike Master) 2hp and 3hp engines. You can find the newer sized bottles of Jiffy oil on the shelves (3.2oz)

Being a synthetic blend and a leaner ratio it does burn cleaner with less smoke.

Jiffy has 2 different oils out. They just came out with new Synthetic oil to mix 40:1.

For clarification Jiffy does not have 2 oils available, they only offer the new 40:1 ratio bottles. It is the same oil they have been selling for several years but in a 40:1 ratio. Also the oil is not synthetic, it is a synthetic blend so there still is some actual oil in the mixture.

You might still see some of the 24:1 bottles around but they only offering the 40:1 bottles. You can take the old 24:1 mixture bottles and lean it out to 40:1 and you will have the same oil.

Boy, my heads spinning now. Glad I got a StrikeLite!!

I bet, because mixing oil using pre-mixed bottles is SO confusing. tongue.gif Just razzing ya. I did use the Amsoil mix at 100:1 for a year, and liked it. I wondered about running a mix that lean but I drill a lot of holes and my Jiffy ran great. I don't think I ever got any more becasue I couldn't find it around, and haven't gotten around to ordering anymore. Sounds like the new Jiffy oil should work pretty well.

I think I will give it a try, as I really don't like the Strikemaster smokeless stuff. If I don't like the Jiffy, then I will give the Amsoil a try, probably at the 40:1 to start.

Thanks for all of the info!!! I got my first gas auger late last year (lazer mag express), so I am still learning all of this stuff. Still beats the hand auger, especially if you like to hole hop!! wink.gif

Yeah, your right. Just looked on Jiffys site. Saw an advertisement for the new stuff and the bottle looked different. They said the oil is reformulated for 40:1 which I doubt. Probably just changed the label and kept the oil the same.

I buy the Amsoil Sabre in 1 Quart bottle for around $8.50 a quart. I add stabil seperatly. Its cheaper just to buy the oil and stabil seperatly than to buy the Jiffy or Strikemaster oil. I use a "Ratio Rite" that I got at a local ATV dealership for mixing gas/oil. Its graduated and works well and only costs around $7.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
