hahaha oh yea last year i left my package of real waxies on my dresser into the summer without even realizing it, and then one day i looked and they had all turned into whatever they turn into...they looked like moths

I prefer spikes. Never seen mousees anyplace, waxies are too squishy and wimpy on the hook, and no one around here seems to stock the colored eurolarvae anymore.

A buddy of mine was hammering perch on a teardrop and red worms a couple weeks ago. Just the regular small earth worms they sell as "trout worms" in the summer.

I prefer minnows for crappies but when it gets tough I go as small as possible with a waxie. I will typically catch 3 or 4 before I have to re-bait. I actually double hook them. Go in just under the head then do a 180 and re-hook them. Seems like after I have caught 1 and there is a little bit the entrails and what not still hanging I get my better fish...

The other option I use is put a real waxie on first then put on a Gulp or Powerbait. They have to go through the artificial first to get to the real thing and usually I get to keep both and the fish.

i've been hitting crappies with euro larvaes, hook on two blues with one white hook thru very end and have them dangle. i swear if you throw on 1 blue and 2 white it won't work, kidding, but 2-3 seems to work best.

Nice post!

This has been fun to read... I am originally from SW Lower MI and grew up on a small lake there. When I was a kid we used mousies all the time! Waxies were a pain to keep on the hook and more expensive. I was just trying to explain to a buddy the other day about "mousies" Dejavu... Anyway, we caught a ton of fish with them. That being said, after moving here and not finding them here, I switched to euro's and they have been my go to bait. Now you guys are touting the new Gulp product. After reading everyone's posts one thing is clear...confidence...if you feel waxies are the ticket...you'll use'em...if you like euro's..you'll slap'em on...and now I'll have to go out and try some Gulp Waxies!!! Personally, I've always found that what works one day does not always insure success the next day. Have your fav's but be flexible and you'll put more fish on the ice!

I have been using eurolarvae for years, and still do. I will use waxies for perch fishing, but only perch, and maybe the once in awhile walleye if the minnows don't get them.I always replace my bait on the hook after just about every fish I catch when using eurolarvae.I learned this from Dave Genz. Fresh, lively bait on the hook will produce more biters day in, day out.Eurolarvae aren't really all that expensive to get anyway,so replace the bait with fresh ones often, is my suggestion.

I used to fish crappies exclusively with a whole minnow or minnow head, but this weekend they were pretty slow with the minnow tactic

I filled a forage minnow trebble hook with 6-8 eurolarve and started catching good crappies...I think I'm going to make the change

so......i jsut posted this on METRO forums and now I find it here....haha....anywho...i had the pleasure of trying mousies for the first time the other day by accident...and boy oh boy did I putfish my buddy! In about an hour of fishing I managed 1 perch, 2 sunnies and 3 slab craps! Buddy : nothing. I don't know if it was just a fluke but the crappies seemed to like that finesse presentation better that particular night. Although I like waxies, i've had great luck on mousies. I'd probably buy both next time. Throw in some [PoorWordUsage] minnows, fatheads and some plastics as well. To me its just another gun to add to my arsenal

I know that many people have their own color configeration when it comes to Euros (Patriotic = 1 red, 1 white 1 blue :/) however you can drive yourself into insanity trying to keep changing individual colors. I have strictly gone to spikes (non colored euros) and if I want different colors, I switch jigs.

I have fished hard for panfish for many years and to me there hasn't been any difference in my ability to catch fish without the colored euros. IMHO there are too many variables to work with. I would rather keep my jig in the water instead of trying to figure what color combo I need to drop down "this time".

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
