Hot glue?

I was thinking about adding some pockets to the inside of my Shappell fish and the question is would hot glue work or will it melt the canvas? If anyone ideas please share Thank you Matt

I'd be a little concerned about hot glue on that kind of material. Maybe adhesive-backed velcro would work??? There's lots of velcro options at any well-stocked hardware store.

Matt I just bought some stuff from Canvascraft that is called VLP and is a glue I used to put on patch's to fix some mouse holes but I think it might work to add a couple of pockets or at least put up some Velcro.The stuff worked great and seems to really hold and you don't have to wait to put it on like contact cement.

Hot Glue doesn't hold up well in the cold temps, it tends to get brittle and crack. I tried hot glueing some velcro to my canvas to help keep a vent shut, it didn't hold up too long.

I would use either the glue Jim talked about.[i used the same product I bought from otter for hole repair] I also am sure that contact cement will work if you have a warm space [above 50 degrees] to work in. FYI contact cement can be very messy. use masking tape to make a straight line for your pockets. I did this on a canvas tent on the window flaps to hold on velcro strips and it held for the entire life of the tent,of course this is only summer usage. good luck Mark
