DVD AUDIO PROBLEM???

bgreen82

Question

alright guys, can anyone help me out?

we have a 5 disk dvd receiver and surround sound system(all panasonic) and when you turn it on it works fine, but after about 10 minutes of play time the audio cuts out completely while the video continues to play. we also have a vcr which runs through it but the sound works fine all the time from what i can see.

any thoughts or ideas as to what the problem may be?

thanks in advance.

Do you have surround sound when you're just watching TV? (meaning do you run a audio line from your TV to your Stereo reciever). If so and that works fine, I would say the problem is somewhere between the DVD and TV. Try a differnt input on the back of the TV, if that doesnt work I would try new cables.

Here's how I would hook it up: Audio out from your TV to Audio In on your stereo reciever. Audio out from the DVD to Audio in on the TV. This way you have surround when you watch regular tv. Sometimes the sound quality isnt the absolute best this way but most times it doesnt make much of a difference. If you want to still use the VCR run it to another input on your TV (video 2). If you still have problems, toss me an email. Eric.Johnson at MTS (Contact Us Please) com

If you swap the audio from the dvd and vcr going into the receiver, does it do the same thing or does it now cut out on the vcr? It could be a bad input on the receiver or a bad audio decoder/output on the dvd. If it stays in same place it is receiver, if it moves it is dvd.

Cables cutting out after 10 minutes seems unlikely.
