DTro
Instead of hijacking another thread, I'll just start a new one.I have a honewell bypass furnace mount humidifier that the water line will not shut off. There is a humidistat that is connected to an electonic orifice valve that is connected to the water line that runs into the filter pad. There is a sail switch in the plenum that is activated when the furnace kicks in.My thought is that the valve is bad. But I'm not sure. Basically the problem is that the pad fills to capacity then it constantly drains out the tube (steady stream).Any ideas?
Chad Halvorson
The sail switch is normally open, it closes when the air moves the switch, sending 24v to the water solenoid. Sounds like it is stuck, which is not surprising with the moisture. You should still be able to break the 24v via the humidistat. However I didnt wire it so you never know. DTro
The switch is working fine. It is open, and I can hear the valve click when I move the sail switch open and closed.
Valv
I cannot help you much on this, I just bought same Honeywell unit yesterday and will install today. The system appears very simple. Could it be there's something stuck in valve and doesn't shut off completely ? If you have to get repairs.....the unit is on sale at Menards for $ 64.00 until saturday
Surface Tension
So your saying when the furnace shuts off the water continues to run though the system.HE225A,B AND HE265A,B BY-PASS FLOW-THROUGH HUMIDIFIERS69-1423EF–2CHECKING YOURHUMIDIFIER OPERATIONAfter winter startup or servicing, use thefollowing steps to check the humidifieroperation:1. DTro
I'll have to look into that "test mode" thing. I can turn the water on, set the humidity level, come back a few hours later. The furnace is off, but the water continuously runs.
Chad Halvorson
Then your solenoid is jammed up, cant close... There is a screen in there (should be) if it wasnt put in, that valve has all kinds of junk in there...
DTro
I tried taking the valve apart, but got to a point where there was nothing more to disassemble (that I could see). It looked like it was magnetically controlled or something. I guess I should just maybe buy a new one if I can. maybe not.....just looked and they are $
