16 Gauge Steel Shot

I finally aquired my favorite shotgun of all time from my father, an Ithica 37 16 gauge. This is the first gun I ever shot a phesant with and I want to go on using it, but I hunt a lot of public ground in Iowa where you can only shoot steel. I have checked Cabelas and a few other major stores and they only carry lead in a 16. I understand that Remington makes it in #4's, any ideas who carries it??

I know Joes in St Paul carries 16 ga. steel. I think Gander used to, but not sure anymore, as I haven't looked. I think Joes is the only place I know they have .410 steel as well.... but holy cow is it spendy! Grandson will have to shoot the 20 for ducks wink.gif

It doesn't matter what choke that old gun has. Steel shot will ruin the barrel. I have an 870 16 ga. that I got in about 1961 that I won't use steel shot in, even though it shoots well for me. Save the old classics for trap, rabbits, and such. The only option is to see whether any place make a new replacement barrel for it.
