DitchPickle13
The episode consists of two parts: "Newell Ranch Part 1" and "Newell Ranch Part 2."Have you guys seen this!? Absolutely great...it catches the true essence of a hunt, not just the moments when a buck walks by. Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert(country music artists) are both featured on the show, as well as Ted Nugent...they are hilarious and very entertaining on the show. Check out the Outdoor Channel site to find out show times for the re-airs.Michael Waddell, host, makes a great speech/rant about people like Blake, Miranda, and Ted standing up for hunters rights and not hiding their passion because they're in show-biz. Check it out if you haven't seen it!!
MUSKY18
That is a great episode(s). Blake Shelton cracks me up when he is out shooting those wild hogs. I watch this show every chance i get and personally think it is one of the best hunting shows on TV!!!!!

CommonSense Guy
Thank God we live in the Land of the Free, and the Home of the Brave. Lets go Hunting!!!
robertrivers
They'll make a show in Northern MN as soon as someone put's up a big fence, buys some stock animals, put's out a pile of corn then sits in a fishhouse on stilt's to peg a fed deer for the camera. Hunting has really changed........and not for the better.

robertrivers
Sorry Buddy! I'll keep my thoughts to myself from now on. I just advocate fair chase.
Borch
Quote:Sorry Buddy! I'll keep my thoughts to myself from now on. I just advocate fair chase. Then you should enjoy the Realtree videos. You're statements regarding these shows not being fair chase are inaccurate. They've been 100% fair chase for the past 5-6 years. No high fence hunts for quite some time. Now on the other hand they have access to some of the best hunting areas in the world as well as great outfitters. Having access to those situations may make many of us jealous. But lets not make statements like this without the facts. But don't take my word for it. Do some research. I've known a few of the realtree pro staff for years and they are top notch folks. robertrivers
I have a different standard than most . Sorry my opinion seems to upset. I don't bait. I don't use scent. I don't use artificial stands. I don't use anything but hunting skills. I rely on stalking skill and concealment. Can you (or your buddies with the cameras) meet that standard? Hunting is just that. Hunting, not trying to get an "edge" and make it easier to shoot a trophy animal like so many on TV. I shot an 11 point 6 YO buck in 2007 that went 303 lbs field dressed. Scored 142. No nothin' but slow walking and wind management. Good Luck to you and your "hunters". 3rd big buck in 30 years. It's not a yearly thing if you don't "cheat". Anybody can lure deer. Try doing it fair, one on one. You'll get a quick lesson.
BKB
I would like to see a picture of that 300 pounder. I shot a buck that dressed right at 200 and that was the biggest deer I have shot in 30 years.
vitalshot5
If it's just hunting skills you use, than it's time to put away the high powered rifle with the high powered scope and the compound bow with carbon arrows and get out the long bow with the hand carved arrows and stone broadheads......See my post sounds as stupid as yours....thanks for bringing me down. fishermn
Fair chase and skill definitely have different meanings to everyone However, in my opinion, any time you can kill a mature deer you have done a number of things right. Still hunting and taking a deer that way is very satisfying; I have taken a few younger deer that way myself. It definitely takes a lot of time and patience. However, finding the home of a mature deer, setting up a stand in the right location, and being there at the right time is also a very challenging task that takes a lot of time and effort. Either way, if you are lucky/skillful enough to outwit a mature deer, I feel thats a major accomplishment. p.s. If we are really talking about fair chase, we should be buck naked chasing the deer down with rocks, sticks and whatever else we can devise
robertrivers
Sorry for sounding stupid. I apologize to you for offending you. I have nothing intelligent to contribute to this site and have removed myself. You're right. Good Luck hunting for whatever you are after.
