strat-o-caster
This is the second time I've noticed this now. We bought this place a little over a year ago. It's raining right now into my range hood. I've been up on the roof and looked at everything up there and it looks fine. Everything looks fairly new up there. It doesn't "always" rain in...this is only the second time we've noticed it.Anyone ever run into this? I'm not sure where to even start looking to fix this.-Strat
Surface Tension
Is the vent on the roof? What kind of cap does it have?It was windy today and that wind could be blowing the rain past the cap.
sparcebag
Seems I'm on my roof everyother year just for that reason! Whoever installed it cut the wrong hole the first time did a poor patch and cut the hole oversize the next time where my repairs will probably continue untill its reroofed. And YES a good hood mounted low on the vent will stop blowing rain, most of it anyway, in real heavy rain and high winds. If you have a square vent pipe try caulking the corners where the metal is bent to create the 90 degree bends on the roof flashing
Roofer
I would bet that it's a bend in the hose. They can collect moisture and eventually leak inside. There should be no bends in the pipe, and they work much better.Something would have to be really screwed up for the cover to leak. Is the cover plastic or metal? How big is it? A picture maybe would help and also take a look in the attic where it comes down.
strat-o-caster
It's a square box type up on the roof. It must just be the wind.
