Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore-8pics

A quick whirlwind 3 day trip through Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin on college visits for my daughter resulted in a fast side trip to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Located on the south shore of Lake Michigan and just east of Gary, Indiana.

Home of Mt. Baldy, rising 123 feet tall and the home of the largest "living" dune that marram grass and cottonwood trees cannot hold in place. This giant mound of sand actually moves south at a rate of four to five feet each year, burying all the trees in its path.

All taken late afternoon with overcast skies. Shot with Canon MarkIIN and 17-40L or 70-200/2.8 at ISO's ranging from 400 to 1250. All shot in manual mode.
