I've got a question about what I should do this weekend. I really want to go bowhunting this weekend the deer are starting to rut and its my last opportunity to get in and do some quailty hunting. I havent done much bowhunting this year since bird hunting has been a priority since I feel I owe it to my 1.5 yr old lab to get him on as many birds as possible. On the other hand I have the oppurtunity to go to ND Duck and Goose Hunting. I would like to bring my cousin who works out at sea has been gone for 6 weeks will be back for a week and a half and then back out for another 6 weeks. He wont be able to do any hunting at all this year, and he doesnt bow hunt. Should I take him to ND or should I go bowhunting?

If you'll still be able to get out bowhunting a few times before firearms season starts take your cousin waterfowling. The full moon is Friday night & that isn't going to be that great for bowhunting in my opinion. If that's your last chance before firearms season I know I'd be/will be bowhunting.

Yeah its my last chance to go bowhunting. I live in SD but do most my bow/rifle hunting in mn. I dont have anyplaces to bowhunt here except on public land and i give up once pheasent hunting starts. If I can convince my buddy who i waterfowl hunt with to stick around MN than I can do the best of both worlds but thats not my decision to make. I personnally dont really have any good places to waterfowl around MN but have 600+ acres to deer hunt.

MAN YOU ARE CRAZY!!!j/k. i would rather bowhunt for praire dogs in south dakota than hunt anything in MN.i mean yeah you have all the pheasent hunters hitting it hard for the first few weeks----then poof almost everyone is gone (or atleast a good chunck of them).plus you are in the eastren part of the state--find a nice plot of trees and wait for the deer to come hide by you when the pheasent hunters come a stompin. sorry i am just jealous-been trying to talk the wife into moving back to SD, as you can see i am not there YET. i would hit the ducks and geese with the buddy in the second best state in this great country and hit the deer hard in late Nov. and dec. in the best state-the one you live in. good luck on what ever you choose to hunt.

North Dakota all the way. Or South Dakata for that matter. The migration is happening and there are a lot of pheasants out there. The deer will always be there, the ducks and geese won't. Plus, think of the poor dog. At that age, he needs the work and experience.
