whens pheasant opener? i hunted phez in iowa regularly but mostly in nov n dec was wodnerin when its opener?? and hows duck hunting goin on northeast of iowa??

i haven't really checked, but it has always been the last saturday of october. there is always somebody in my party that goes out too early on sunday(daylight savings time)

Starts on Saturday the 27th and won't have to worry about daylight savings until the second weekend this year. Don't know about duck hunting but with all the rain we have had in the past week pheasant opener is going to be brutal with the majority of crops still in the fields. Has been flooding over large portions of the state and still quite a few beans in the field and very little corn harvested.

Opening of duck season this weekend will be tricky with all of the standing water thats around. Most of the farmers were saying would be two weeks before the could get back in the fields and that was before the rains of yesterday, today and whats predicted for tomorrow.

some of the guys have been doing very well on ducks hunting in corn fields! i was told sunday a mixed bag of mallards,widgeon,pintails,and others. del

We locals like it when the corn is still in on opener, as it makes hunting much better later in the season. Do wish it'd dry out for the farmer's sake, but will do nothing but help our bird hunting come Thanksgiving.

We hunted in northe cental Iowa. 5 guys and 7 dogs. We got our 15 roosters but it took until 4:24 pm. All were shot on public land. On Sunday morning we shot 10 roosters but quit at noon. Overall a great weekend.

WG, sounds like you may have been to some of my old haunts. i am winnebago county guy. my last opener was 5 years ago today. can't wait to get back
