Pheasant Hunting

So, did anyone get out pheasant hunting last weekend? I was in NE ND for the weekend and managed 2 pheasants in a short couple of hours out and about in the fog:

I am leaving for the Sakawea area on Thursday. Three days of hunting with my dad and brother. I will report when I am back on Monday.

Congrats M-M, looks like fun. I won't chase birds until I get my two archery deer tags filled. Some years that means I never get out at all for pheasant. I'm optimistic that I'll be able to chase some roosters this Dec though. We'll see...

I'm heading back Friday thru Wednesday and will be patrolling the south central area of the state for ditch parrots. My GSP is anxious to hit the fields again!

I got two down by hankinson after the fog lifted on sat

We did poorly in the SE. Not nearly as many birds as last year. We headed west and did ok 35 miles or so west of ashley. Lots more birds there.

kgpcr4 - when you say SE, could you elaborate further? Wahpeton, Forman, etc?

The reason I ask is because I'd say that things are about the same this year as last year in the Lisbon / Gwinner...

The Forman area is where we started and did not find many birds. We found them west of there! west of Ashley we found alot of birds! I think the rain really hurt nesting this spring in the foreman area

I hunted the Gwinner/Forman area for the opener and also over MEA - I would agree that there are not as many birds as last year. The wet weather and crops in the field don't help, but sure seems like less birds.
