snowgoose
To hunt Iowa you need to apply as a non resident in May. The cost of a tag is around $425. This gives you a either sex tag and a extra doe only tag for the season you choose to hunt. The second tag is a manditory purchase. I hunt in SW Iowa and have been drawn 4 out of the last 5 years. This is a different area than you have been talking about. Thanks to relitives I have a great place to hunt down there. Great potential for monster bucks. My hunting partner came home with a 158" 11 pointer last year. Look at iowadnr (Contact Us Please) com. no spaces. You will find the info for non resident hunting that you are looking for. If you dig far enough into the site you will find the number of tags being issued and the number of applicants for this year for the area you want to hunt.If you are looking to gun hunt I would suggest that you apply for the 1st season. It is a shorter season and not as many people apply for that one.Do some home work and door knocking and I bet you could end up on some pretty nice property to hunt all to yourself.
