Upper Hay Lake-Click here for location
Meet at Access or on Lake (Red 36 on map)
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
Sat., December 21, 2002
Meet at 7:00 am until ?????

Upper Hay holds a very nice population of 15 to 20-inch walleyes, in addtion to a fair mix of older year classes. Impressively large bluegills swim here also, and in seemingly strong numbers. Medium sized pike, crappies and largemouth bass exist in fishable numbers as well.

Upper Hay harbors moderately stained waters fringed by large shallow bulrush flats, expansive midlake cabbage beds, several pronounced hard-bottomed points that project well into the lake's basin and a number of shallow rock humps.

Wintertime effort revolves primarily around elusive schools of large black crappies. Walleyes, pike and bluegills provide overlooked, quality opportunities for skilled ice anglers too. It's one of those lakes that's full of fish. Yet due to a diversity and abundance of habitat, local anglers often categorize Upper Hay as one of those 'tough nuts to crack.'

We will have the Condaminium crew out there. The Condaminium is a VERY big Portable and you shouldn't miss it. They will probably bring a grill so bring some food and beverage if you'd like.

It's also a great opportunity to see a lot of the gear we talk about.

Iceleader's Pro Staff and Field Staff will be there to fish right along side you. Even help you out if you'd like. This event is strictly for learning and fun.

Rick, I should be up for this one hoping that everything falls into line. Is there any part of the lake where we should meet? If I go I'll probably be there around 9am or so. Let me know.

Good Fishin, Matt.

Big Jim and I will be there. I just registered for the ICE Series yesterday. If Corey has the Rum Punch flowing, it will be a memorable event (unless none of us can remember by morning)!!

Corey and Paul, hoping to make it to Rush in the morning, just not sure if the Boss will let me. We are going to put new garage doors on this weekend since it is warm, and she may not like me going fishing instead.

For you folks just starting out in ice fishing or looking to learn some advanced skills, i would highly suggest attending this event. Its free and it is a hands on event. Learn secrets from some of the best ice anglers in the country,Rick,Gullguide and Toad just to name a few. Sounds like theres even going to be a local highly reputable pro-guide there as well. There should be enough staff on hand to help everyone. You should also go to see the new Condominium portable fish house. Incase you missed the show, this thing is unreal.

Cool Chiro,
looking forward to fianlly meeting you.

It's looking like it might be good walleye weather this Saturday.

A Cooler, Cloudy day is forecast before the sun peaks out on Sunday.

Looks like the ice will be fine for wheelers and snowmobiles as well.

Chiro, maybe you can help the others pull those of us without transport to the fishing hotspots???

If you can be there don't miss it.
Looks like I might have a few goodies to give away as well.

Anyone else thinking about showing up????

Hey, it sounds like a great time.We still don't have safe ice hear in western SD. Unfortunatly, I'm quite a ways away and the cows need fed so I can't be there. If I could ask, maybe someone could get some pictures of the catch, condo, and members( so I can put a face with your names) and post them hear on the forum. I think alot of us that are a ways off would get a real kick out of it. Just a thought. Enjoy fellas and keep it safe.
PS. Drink a cold one to old Waterbeater.
