"Took a Ride" (pics)

took a ride down "south of the Zim" country.....no deer but still a nice ride ....I did see a flock of about 20 or so sharptails in a field ...just north of Meadowlands a mile or so....same place I saw em this spring during the mating "dance thing"...same field even!...I did manage 1 photo but these guys are serious spookie ....pic I managed is about 250' or so away and even then the "sentry" saw me!....one spooked,then another...cackling and clucking as they flew and scattered...all on private farm fields so a guy can't really follow em...built in protection...good to see the sharptail"holding their own" at least in some areas...here's a pic of one of the flock...no it's not one of my better photos but shows it's a sharptail anyways ...and a couple other photos from that area...

I like that last one quite a lot. I like the blandness of the whole picture offset with the dark and vibrant red.

thanks brassman!...yes,a simple barn, simple scene but still has a certain "appeal" to it..guess it always has with that big maple next to the barn...took many photos of this whole scene through the years...here's a couple from awhile back...

Your grouse photo is similar to my sandhill crane shots, good for identification. The barn with the maple is super. I really like the contrast between the two.

Great shots. I really love the barn photos. I have a thing for old barns. Your photos always make it seem like I live in a very different state than you. A much less picturesque state I'm sure it'll be fine once we get some more color.

johnny, I love that barn sequence, do you have one with snow? If so, I would love to have that sequence in my Bar area. something about that barn that I just love........

Jonny, you keep taking images of that barn, and I keep loving them! Once a farmer always a farmer, I guess. That last one with the round bale in the foreground is especially nice.
