Mr Special
I've always wanted to bag a deer with a handgun. I figure if I can bag them with a bow, why not a handgun. So i recently picked up a S&W 357mag. What round would you season handgunners recommend. Any help is gratly appreciated Thanks and good luck to all
roosterslayer
i would find a heavier solid lead round. My uncle shot a small buck with a hollow point and didnt get real good penatration, infact the bullet splashed. At least if it was me i would shoot a round nose. DuluthGuy
Get the heaviest bullet. Shoot for lungs. something w/controlled expansion (soft lead nose vs. hollow pt)- limit your distance. This is a shootable caliber - but looses energy fast! B2 Good luck - if it helps - my uncle took a 10pt w/one! I carry a S&W 500 - on the "do you really need that much?" chart... Swamp Scooter
165 grain and soft semi jacketed tips if not soft nose ones. My Dad has nailed a couple with his .357. Practice getting used to the gun by shooting the .38's first. Get it sighted in for up to 50 yards and then sight it in with the .357's.
BobT
Why practice using .38s? Wouldn't you be better off shooting the round you're going to use? That's like practicing motocross using a bicycle, isn't it?Bob
