Rebel9921
I accepted Luke's invitation (Luke is Muskiedreams on FM.com) for some Mille Lacs Muskie fishing... We left his place about 12:30... arrived at his place up there... got things ready... then hit the lake for first part of fishing... The lake was full of waves and casting was a bit troublesome but eventually I got the hang of it... first pass... Luke got a follow... not sure whether it was a Northern or a Muskie... then nothing... so we packed it up, trailered the boat... went back to his place to make some sandwiches... then hit the lake at a different place for rest of the night... Approximately 8:15pm... We were trolling... and Luke said he got a fish on... We thought it was a Muskie because it was kinda dark at that time... but nope, it was a nice 37" Northern... on a Pink/Pink Double Cowgirl... CPR'ed the whole thing... Luke then turned to me and said, "See pink works... change ur cowgirl!" I was using Black/Black Nickel Cowgirl... so I switched to Pink/Pink... and went back to trolling... 35 minutes later... at 8:50pm, on September 5th 2007, while trolling pink/pink double cowgirl... I finally got the danged monkey OFF my back for once and for all!!! I hooked, fought, landed, and CPR'ed a beautiful 43"x23" Mille Lacs Muskie... I have pics from that but I have absolutely no idea how to post it... Luke is one hell of a great guy... He doesnt know how MUCH I truly appreciate everything he has done... I would like to THANK him for all that!!!! I definitely will be looking forward to future trips with him, thats if he does invite me again!!! I really enjoyed it all... I am still in "shock"... Cant believe that its all a reality... cant believe that I finally caught a Muskie... cant believe I did it from start to finish... It all was definitely WORTH IT!!! PDXFisher
Good work! It's rough fishing all those hours without anything to show for it. It was at least 25 loooong days (and three guides) before I boated my first last month. Now they'll just jump on your rod

PDXFisher
Dude, when your arm falls off, get yourself some double showgirls We had tons of action on them the week I was out there, two of them were over 50". We threw Cows, too, but had more luck on the Shows, and they sure feel a heckuva lot better. Heck, I had a Tiger on today that hit a red/red Dbl Showgirl on Lake Tapps in Washington. Got two others on a big Jake and a depthraider. Tiger Muskies on the West Coast...who'd a thunk it? I'm gonna have to join the Washington chapter of Muskies Inc now... MuskyChad
Way to go Rebel, Now your confidence will be up there and with the fall and prime time approaching you hopefully wont have any issues putting a few more in the boat, hopefully a few fall fatties. It took me 2 yrs to get my first and each season I learn a little more and seem to improve my catches. Chad
Rebel9921
Trust me, PDX, Im already ahead of you... I have two Dbl Showgirls, and am planning on getting more before end of 2007, especially the pink/pink one!!! Since I finally caught a Muskie... Now I need to go and catch a Tiger Muskie... then I can die a happy man!!! Although theres still the lingering thought, "50 INCH" LOLChad... THANKS!!! Yes my confidence has improved a bit but not enough to be able to do what Luke has done and can do!!! Im still learning more and more every time I hit a lake... and from everyone who has provided incredible advices and insights here at FM.com, along with opportunities presented by people here... I certainly dont have any issues with boating more... in fact, Im ready and eager for more... I know that it wont matter if the muskie is my 100th, it will mean as much as my 1st one did... I just have two more goals then I can die a happy man... 1. Tiger Muskie... 2. breaking the 50" barrier... That should last me for a while now LOL
tunrevir
Way to go Reb! Glad to hear you got one. I will warn you now that you have been infected and thousands of hours, dollars will be spent in pursuit of this fish. Next it will be just one over 45, 50, 55" and so forth, then it will be the quest for the state record and then...well, you get the idea. Great job! WRD
Congrads, on your first muskie. Hopefully before this fall is up I can say the same thing and get that monkey off my back. Had her on last Wednesday but it wasn't meant to be yet. As frustrating as the last 3 yrs have been I'm not ready to give in.

I've already spent over $700, with plans to spend more... I also anticipate more hours invested in the future... Yep I got the idea LOLThanks WRD... Dont give up, man... it took me 4 months, took Luke 1 1/2 years... it varies... You have been blessed... ur time will come!!! U got a great taste of whats to come... and its coming!!!Stephen... Purple/Silver-Nickel??? Where the heck did you get that??? I definitely gotta get that one too!!!! Only purple I can find comes with gold blades unless I get a showgirl (Already have that one) and it has purple blades...
TMF89
Just recently purchased five, pink/pink, chartruese/chartruese, red/orange, nickel/black, and purple/gold. Can't wait to get that (Contact Us Please) prop back on the boat and try them out!!! One question though, have you guys ever had any historical success with one color or another? I know pink is pretty popular, but what about for varying temps, water color, depths/structure, and weather?
muskiedreams
all of those points you made play a roll pink pink may be good on one lake and not get a follow on another. you have 2 switch it up 2 see what the fish are reacting 2. By the way congrats rebel on the nice 43" was a good time glad I could be a part of it.
uplander
I've always been a, if everyone else is using it I'm not going to kind of guy.....but last night I tied on one of those COW-GIRLS just to see what all the hype was......about ten cast in had I nice fish mid 40's come up and miss it! I was burning it just below the surface(kicks up a mean wake,by the way) and the fish came up turned on it and just missed...came back to that fish three times that night never got her to go..........but was rewarded later with a chunky 37" I'll take it....I guess I have to see it to believe itCongrats Rebel on your 1st..may they come fast and furrious nowuplander
