troyfideldy
August 12 2007 6:30 A.M. Grand Rapids Minnesota After having years of trouble with my father's apple orchard, my father was able to talk the DNR into letting him do something about the deer. The DNR issued my father a surplus permit for allowance of 10 anterless deer to be harvested. Here is the first deer I harvested which was eating apples off the tree. 4 deer were shot that day in our fields. We give the deer to the local game processor "Tikes" and he provides the meat products to local charitys, while the DNR pays him $80 a deer. $800 was set aside this year for problem deer. A conflict of interest would be if we kept the deer for ourselves. Next year the DNR is going to build a fence. The DNR is actually doing something and it has been a good deal for all the people invloved. When the processor called the DNR for reburishement the deer was the first deer registered in state this year.

Mo Gator
Is it the norm that the DNR foots the bill for deer problems like this? Can I get a fence built around my garden?
