Well, to be honest, if you want to spend between $300 and $400(which the Cuddes cost), just go with a camera from Snapshotsniper, Gotchatrail cams or Swampghost.

They are homebrew style cameras that will SMOKE Cudde in speed, ease of set up, quality of pics, battery life, etc......

I have all but given up on commercial cameras....

And following the homebrew craze closely over the last year+, I will stand by the three mentioned above and they will more than meet your requirements.

I have built 4 homebrews with Snapshotsniper parts, and I am PEACHY!!!!!!!!

Less than $150 invested, and I have 4 mp cameras, battery life better than most commercial cams, trigger speeds as good and better than most commercial trail cams, the ability to take the cameras out of the housing and still use as stand alone cameras, set up options WAY above any commercial cam, ease of set up options that beats most commercial cameras, etc.....

I am SOOOOOOOOO sold on the homebrew revolution.

Whether you try a build on your own, or buy a pre-fabbed homebrew from one of the above places. You will be so frickin happy!!!!!!!!!!

the "homebrew" camera begs the question as to why these camera companies can't make a camera that is worth their asking price

if Joe Hunter can go out and build their own trail camera from scratch that is better and cheaper than most trail cameras, that doesn't say too much about the trail camera companies

I've been really frustrated with my cuddeback expert, which was supposed to be the best on the market. it is now back at the company for the second time.

No kidding. I am about to scrap my leaf rivers. One is back for it fifth visit, and the other is on trip #3.

Sucks, as it is right about when the velvet is gonna come off and both my cameras are down.

Looks like I might have to go homebrew this winter.

What camera are you using, I just started making a BOM for my homebrews and I looking into Sony DSC-S40, it just seems like the trigger time is a bit better. Do you need to make any config changes to the camera it's self? Or does it plug into the controller it's self with of course the extra cables you need to buy.

Any info it appreciated...

I have 3 S40's and one P32.

The S40 has about a 2 second trigger time with the snapshotsniper boards. The P32 is a bit quicker. The P41 is pretty much the fastest available at 1 second trigger times.

There are camera settings you need to make in the camera itself to make it work properly.

I have a document listing each setting required in the camera. Very simple to set up.
