deck lighting

hi all,

just looking to add lighting to my deck (2 levels). thought of the rope style or low voltage lights. any thoughts to what has worked for others? thanks...

Sounds like bug attractant,I think thats why people who light their decks use those torches with somekind of repellant.Not to say ya cant! I've only seen an exterior door light or torches.Low voltage would be the safe way to go tho.

I used the rope lighting tucked up under the railing. You can't see it during the day and it gives off a low light at night. If you want to LIGHT UP your deck don't use rope lighting but if you want to have a low light situation it works great. You can still see well enouph to move aropund just can't read a book.

It doesn't attract bugs either.

check out touchstone lighting in Long Lake...they have the best quality landscape lighting in my opinion...

they have a HSOforum as well, google will help you find it.

I also did rope lighting, but now a year and a few months later, I've replaced most all of the clips that broke (UV damage, cold?) some sections don't work and there are rust spots in 50% of the sections. The clip screws even rusted...

They were from menards, don't know if you have to spend more for this not to happen, but I was disappointed nonetheless.
