What Tree stand do you use???

I have always used a hang on but i used a buddy of mine's tree lounger. Man i really like that. Any body have any thoughts on it. I would like to get a climber that packs nice in and out of the woods.

If you really want a light climber I would recomend the Summit Open Shot. I have a Viper and love it and take long naps in it. The key is to make sure to do your homework on what trees your going to climb and avoid December Popple trees on very cold days (just warning you)

Otherwise I have been investing in cheap 15' ladder stands and placing them every where I can so know matter what the wind is doing I have a stand to hunt. Good luck.

I use hang-ons,climbers,ladder and wood built. I also use Double Bull blinds. Many different blinds and stands in numerous locations. That way if the wind is wrong for one it will be right for another. You also wont overhunt that same tree stand all the time and put too much pressure on the deer in the area you are hunting.

I like the Lone Wolf climbers. Summit also has some nice ones too.

I use the Summit Razor (same as the viper but with a folding bar). I've been looking into getting that footrest, I too like to take long naps in it, haha. Besides that I just have some cheaper ladder stands put up where I know I'm not going to move them.

Beware the cheap ladder stand. They can easily cost you a deer due to squeaking or making noise when you move. Yes, I'm saying this from experience. If it makes even a small noise when you go from sitting to standing, be prepared to do one or the other the whole time you're out. Found out the hard way.

I guess I shouldn't say "cheap", I just meant not the big huge double person ladderstands. These still cost me about $130-150. Does anyone know who's making the tree stands for Gander Mountain's store brand? I just saw them the other day, their basic hangers are $40 so if they're any good I might have to pick a couple up.

I have a Gorilla ladder stand, a Double Bull Matrix 360 ground blind and a Summit Viper SS with the foot bar. I like all 3 for their different uses. The Viper is easy to carry in and out of places, the Ladder stand is comfortable and nice to leave in place for extended periods of time adn the ground blind is nice to have for areas that don't have a lot of big trees around to hang stands on.

I bought the climber that Lone Wolf makes for $360 about a month ago. I tried it in a couple trees and it is awesome. Did not make any noise and was very comfortable in it.

Thats right Bill, they build one awesome stand even for the money. Nothing worse than a stand that creeks, is not comfortable and is not easy to use.

I've been using the summit bullet (basically a viper that folds flat for transport). Extremely comfortable, quiet and reliable. Best thing I like is that if I fall asleep in stand, I'm cradled enough that I cannot fall out. I can sit all day without much movement. And..when I stand, I like the crossbar in front...it keeps my feet within the limits of the base of the stand, and I can use it to steady my legs while shooting (bow)

Definitely better to spend the money on a good stand with a solid reputation, than something that is more bargain based.

I agree with you, I like how my Summit contains me so I don't have to worry about falling out if I fall asleep. I swear sometimes that thing is more comfortable than some of my living room furnature.

I have a Lone Wolf Alpha. I prefer the hang-on stand and a lightweight set of strap on steps. I use the Summit Bucksteps. The stand is like 12 lbs and the steps weigh 10lbs. I would really like the Lone Wolf hand climber but I rarely hunt straight trees with few limbs. I like the versatility of picking any tree in the woods big enough to hold my stand and fat butt.

I know lots of guys like the summit so I'll be looking at that one too cause I know that they both weigh only 14lbs for a climber stand.
