LMITOUT
The movie about Dale Earnhardt, narrated by Paul Newman, will air on CMT Sept 4th. "Behind the wheel he was a legend. Behind the legend he was one of us."

harvey lee
After watching the show, he is still and always will be the greatest promoter of NASCAR. It will never be the same without Dale. NASCAR isnt even the same anymore. He was respected by all in the racing game from the top to the last place driver.

LMITOUT
It was a great show. Much, much better than "3" which was more of a movie than a documentary which "Dale" is. It was nice to see the Earnhardt family speaking about certain aspects of Dale and reliving memories. I missed the first 1/2 hour last night so I'll have to catch that tonight. HOF#13
Dale Sr. was, and always will be, "The Man". Awesome show, but definately tugged on the 'ol heart strings. Dang, I miss that guy.
TNFL
From what I saw it was pretty good. The only part I didn't like, was after "the crash", they went off topic for a awhile talking about Menard and Jr.'s wins and struggles. But otherwise the rest of it was good. By the way, did they ever show him actually catch a fish???
harvey lee
No fish caught.
HOF#13
I had it recorded on the DVR, and about halfway through the show I noticed that everytime they showed anyone, especially Dale Sr. is his driver's suit, they blurred out the red and white Simpson patch that was on his left shoulder. Interesting. Looks like the Earnhardt family feels pretty confident that it was the Simpson belt that dumped (thats what they called it anyhow) that was responsible for Dale's death...(even though Simpson claims the belt was not installed properly??? harvey lee
Sharp eye. I never noticed that. I know that many were trying to blame it on the belts. There are some things about Dale's accident that we as fans will never know about.
HOF#13
True. Not that we fans need, or deserve, to know all of the details, but the curious side of me would still like to know. I guess the bottom line is he was racing and had a wreck that cost him his life.
PierBridge
I think Dale was old school like a lot of drivers were when it came to safety equipment he liked to be comfortable.
Sutty
Speaking of Dale, I was at a friends house the other day and he has a great picture of Dale and all the old school drivers DW, Pearson, The King about 6-8 more guys and they are all flipping off the camera. Maybe thats made its way around and you have all seen it.
HOF#13
I think you may be right on that on Pier. It seems like whenever they show in car shots Dale Sr. driving he was always kind of slumped in his seat leaning to the left. He looked comfortable anyhow, not like you see with the huge safety seats drivers use now.
Shack
I liked the movie. I am not a large or even big NASCAR fan, but it sure was neat seeing that old footage and what Dale was all about.I give it two thumbs up. That rating has been pretty hard to give to any moive I have seen in past many years.Again, good movie!
