Cover scent idea

I hunt where there are cattle and horses pastured so I always make sure to step in a fresh pie or two. Anyone gone so far as to rub their hunting clothes on a horse or cow before heading out?

can't say I have done that purposefully.....I was reading in a predator mag. the other day about a new way to mask scent. They mixed 3 or 4 different scents in a spray bottle and saturated (I doubt they saturated, but I am sure they sprayed a lot) the area with that mix. Fox, deer, racoon, and I can't remember the other one. I wouldn't spray it on myself but I will be trying it out this year. Basically it confuses the animals because it is picking up fox deer racoon, rabbit, human all at the same time. proof will be in pudding this year.

if the cattle operation is big, hang your hunting clothes up in the barn for a day or two, that should last all season, of course your friends will want to stay up wind of you at all times

I havent rubbed on the cows but I have put thier by products on my pants and shirt. You will need to wash your clothes or you wont get back into the house.

One of my best stands is on the fenceline of my pasture. I frequently use the horses as cover when I cross the open pasture during the daylight. Simply have 1 horse on each side of me as I walk, turn them loose when I reach the fenceline. I have used this tactic to get into my stand undetected when there were deer feeding in the field next to mine during the daylight. I'm sure that the horse scent also gets on my clothes and helps to cover my scent as well.
