I am taking the class on Wednesday and I have a question.

Does that mean i can carry my handgun with me while I hunt? I understand that you can.

Is that true?

Look in the MN hunting regulations. It spells it out for you. It just depends what you are hunting and with what.

I know what the regs say -- but I understand it is different when you have the special gun permit.

Last time I talked to a CO about the subject (last summer I ran into one at the local shop) I was told that for bowhunting even if you have a permit you cannot carry while bowhunting. We were talking bowhunting whitetails.

Yes, it would be illegal to have a CW while bow hunting.

And you may not have one in the vehicle if you are shinning deer - for those who do that.

I also have a CWP and never have mine along if I am hunting.

Thanks for the info. That is not what I was told, but makes sense. Still don't get the bow one but that is the way it goes.
