Propane lights

I am converting an old camper into a ice house, I would like to put some propane lights in it. What is the best kind? and where is the best place to buy them?

Looks to me like those Humphrey/Paulin lamps and accessories are out of stock. I heard rumor they were going out of business. Anyone heard anything on that?

I also have the Humphrey lamp in my shack and that's what I'd go with. But if the're out of business, not sure what else there is.

I saw that too. If Humphrey is indeed going out of business, I'd bet that Fish House Supply would find a suitable replacement to sell on it's HSOforum soon.

Can you dim propane lights like lanterns, or are they either on or off?

Do the lights give off Carbon Monoxide? I'm sure they do, but is it enough to be a concern?

Carbon Monoxide? Yes. I've noticed my eyes burning after a few hours of running the lamp with no ventiation. I've even had the CO2 detector go off registering a bit over 100 parts per million of Co2. Definitely caught me by surprise.

Cracking a window helped, but that's not always an option on those 20 below days. Had to run battery lights on those days.

You should crack a window or install a couple of those small 2" round soffit vents in the Fish House for ventilation when using your gas light.

I have a soffit vent always open in the fish house. Like I said, cracking a window is not always an option on those 20 below days.

Where did you get the soffit vents?

I bought my current house used from another fishermen, not sure where to get them. Maybe check fishhousesupply.

You should be able to get the soffit vents from any lumber yard.

i too use the soffit vents in my house i have one above eaach lamp and three on the side of the house i point to the south when i set up. i used the metal ones with the screens in them on the outside. and the plastic ones on the inside to dress them up. i picked them up at the home store that i bought all my building supplys from when i built the shack. ... paul
