StrosLit31
Just wondering if anyone has a good tatic for fishing steep breaklines? The breakline i am trying to fish goes from about 13'to 40' and there is a small area where it tops out at 24' I have tried jigging this with a leech and lindy riging this with a bottom bouncer. Seems with this method i have got smaller walleyes and rock bass and sunfish mix in. But i have gotten one larger walleye there.Any ideas or is this a lost cause? I also have tried bobber fishing but you never know what depth your bait is at because of the steep break.
Kyle Sandberg
GO perpendicular to the break. You should pull (trolling motor) either a jig with bait or a spinner up and down until you locate what depth the fish are at and then, once you locate them, using the trolling motor, use the same tactict and try to stay on that depth. You may be in the wrong area for the wrong time of the year to catch big ones. The sturcture will hold fish later in the year or towards the evenings if there is a feeding flat or shallows nearby.

PerchJerker
Vertical jigging. Use a jig, or a #6 kahle hook with a minnow and 3/8 oz of pegged lead 18-24 inches up from the hook. I prefer to use a tiller-controlled kicker to motor around, hold position, or drift. Watch your electronics and hover over the fish you mark. wishing for walleyes
Sounds like the perfect spot to use a bobber with a brain.Keeps your bait the same distance off the bottom.
Northlander
Jigging Spoons work great in these situations as do jigging raps and Nils Jigin Shads.
Team Otter
That's a great one! Just ask Daryl Christensen. He always seems to put a bite like that together on the PWT and FLW on whatever body of water he's on.
