Chatter question

Scoot

Recommended Posts

I bought my first chatterbait last week. I used it yesterday- wasn't happy with it. I was told I could burn them pretty fast, but if I reeled it faster than pretty darn slow, it blew up on the surface. Did I get a bad lure or is this just what you get with the new chatterbaits?

It is not working properly. Either you have it hooked up wrong, which I don't believe is possible, or the lure is faulty.

Musky Innovations is great to deal with, send them an email or call them and they will probably send you a replacement.

I have a chatterbait . I don't think they are ment to be burnt . They should be used at a steady pull . They have a lot of action but watch it when it come up along side your boat and you'll se they don't have to come in super fast to get max action or to stay up in the water . Just like your Doc or Suick these take a few times to have them work the way you want them to . Personally what I like to use them for is around weed beds ( deeper ones ) and let them sink to the bottom and kind of work them up in a start / stop motion like a jig . And shallower I'll straight retrieve them and to be totally honest I have never caught a fish on one but it is the one lure that I haven't that I think its a matter of time before I do . There is too much action not to attract a fish . grin.gif

I'm glad that this thread got started, I was actually eyeballing a chatterbait yesterday and decided to wait and see what I could find on here about them. I have never used one, and I see that one of you mentioned possibley hooking it on wrong? I just want to be sure, what is the correct way? On the snap that is above the blade?

They are fun. Great for pike and bass. There are really only two ways you can possibly hook them on... one way you won't feel the chatter.. the other will rattle your rod.. it's pretty easy to tell. White and chartreuse are great!

Fun to troll with.. around 2.5mph is perfect... they hand down around 3 or 4 feet.. They are pretty weedless too... just don't pull... keep your rod/retrieve steady and it will usually roll off.
