Honda rancher 350ES work for ice fishing?

Will a Honda Rancher 350ES work good for ice fishing. I have a small 5x7 on skids. Will it pull it ok? I think the rancher has a 5 speed trans, no lo/hi range. Not sure if 1st gear and the power of the 350 will work. Any thoughts or experiances would be great!

It will be more than sufficent. Honda's have the best pulling power for there size. 1st has real good power. I typically start in 2nd gear. The rancher is a awesome little rig. I personally have a 450 forman. Were I work we have alot probably better than a dozen rancher 4 wheelers for our survey crews and they use them hard.

Thanks for the info. I know honda's are some of the best you can get. Good to here that it will have good pulling power in 1st gear. Now we just need some ice!

I have the 350 es and it pulls my 14foot ice castle with no problems just make sure u have good tires. have pulled thru 5 inches of snow

I would also recommend a set of chains for at least the back tires. This will help you starting out or if the fish house is slightly frozen down. Also helps you around rough ice.

I don't know if you will belive this or not but it is true. Why I tried it I don't know I have the honda 450. I pulled my 8X27 ice castle witch weights in at 5600lb pulled it with no problems I did have chains on and not much snow on the ground.I guess I just wanted to see if it could do it. And I really didn't want to drive my truck over a nasty looking crack.

When in doubt, go to the man's mall. Fleet Farm is the place to go; that's where I got mine. Know your tire size before buying!

my parents have a 2001 rancher 350 4x4 and i use that to pull my 8x16 and it has no problem. dont ask me how i know but it will do 20mph with the fish house behind it...just make sure you know the stopping power b4 you do something like that though.

I use an old Big Red 250 Three-Wheeler to pull my portable around...works great in all but the deepest snow.

It will also pull my 6x8 permanent around as well...
