Muskiebait
My 520c isn't able to lock in the gps coordinates, says something about the gps module not responding, it is brand new out of the box, any ideas.....
0 LMITOUT
The GPS puck needs power to operate and the 12V is supplied through the NEMA power wire on the 520c pigtail. You should have red/black/white wires which power the 520c unit, and then you should have a red/black/bare(shield) that powers the NEMA network (GPS Module). (the white and bare wires of both these cables are unused) Even if you didn't use the network equipment (cable and T) that came with the 520 and plugged the GPS module directly to the back of the 520, it still requires power to operate. 0 HaywardBound
LMITOUT has good advice above. Also the GPS puck draws power even when your unit is off, so you should wire it to a master switch so you don't drain your battery when not in use. I wired mine to an extra ACC switch on my dash. Quote: it is brand new out of the box, any ideas..... About your current problem...use all the parts in the box. There is one plug that you have to use, I think it is a red one...plug that in and you should get it working. (I found this out after I read the directions). PS...I used silicone to mount my GPS antenna (no drill holes)...I'm glad I did, because I think I installed it too close to my VHS antenna and I think it is causing interference. I'll just pry it off and try a new place for the GPS antenna. Let us know how things work out. Jon
0 Valv
LMITOUT is right on the money, I just bought a LCX27c and had same problem, until I checked wiring and found the 2 red/black for the antenna.Actually Lowrance says to ground cable shielding to negative too, so I combined the black and the shield and everything works great now.LGC2000 and LGC3000 GPS antennas need power from power source. Sounds like someone did not look at the manual before mounting his unit! I wonder why Lowrance does not put a sticker on the screen that warns people of this since it is such a common issue? 0 Muskiebait
I didn't do the install, it was installed at the dealer when I bought the boat. So do you figure they screwed up the install, and wiring, or is it a bad puck?
0 Giant_Jackpot
Sounds like the wiring to me. Id take it back if it isn't too much hassle.
0 Barehooks
I picked up my new boat a little over a month ago, I had the dealer install my existing 330C and 332C, as we were doing the walk through of the boat on delivery day I turned on the units and they came up with the dreaded gps module not responding message, having installed the units in my previous boat I knew what the problem was, no power to the gps module. The tech that did the rigging was gone that day so another tech came out and started checking things over, was under the dash for about a half an hour and double checked and triple checked the wiring and could'nt find anything wrong, all of a sudden it was like a light bulb came on in his head and he reached up and turned the key on, no more problem. Everybody got a pretty good laugh about that one.
