I'm no bass fisherman, but I do catch them pretty religeously in the summer in Whitefish Bay. WFB is quite a bit clearer than Sabaskong, but all I do to find the bass is either cast or troll big shallow rock outcrops off of shore. They are usually hanging out suspended or near the bottom, but will come up for a mepps spinner or a Rap swimming by.

I agree with Hemlock. Mid July the smallies can be found on rocky points. I have also caught them on top of shallow reefs. I'm sure someone with a lot more experience than myself will chime in soon.

Have a good trip.

patrat78,

I just started fishing Smallies last July on LOW for the first time. I found them right were everyone had been telling me to look for the previous ten years. Shoreline with rocks. Baseball to softball size was the size I looked for and I caught lots of Smallies. Check around the islands just North of the Morson resorts.

There's some nice smallie islands NE of Morson, too. Go north through the Raspberry gap and then head east about 1/2 mile. There's about four mid-size larger islands that hold smallies. Again, look for the rip rap rock, boulders and points. You'll also catch walleyes. Also, my best spots are a little journey from Morson - the west side of Gooseneck on the south rip rap shore and weeds and also the south rip rap shore and point of Village island. There's some nice footballs over there.

I like blue and silver rattlin raps, #4 firetiger or gold/black shad raps and husky's. Or just a jig and minnow or grub - or a simple splitshot and a nightcrawler. I've also been getting into tubes which has been fun too.

thanks for all the great info guys i know its like two weeks away but i cant wait to get up there. I saw some guys on the outdoor channel on LOW and they tried topwatersd and only caught a couple but then they pitched a shad and jig towards shore and they started to catch tons of them it was a show that i saw at the perfect time.

This is the first year in 10 that I've missed the late June bassin trip to LOW. Had to sacrifice it for a trip to Alaska in August. I hope you feel my pain. Anyway, we usually stay on Crow out of Nestor Falls and drive up to Whitefish Bay where there are smallies and largemouth. We fish the rocks for smallies and the weedy shallows for the largemouth. There are several other smaller lakes in the area that have smallies. We fish Crow if the bite is on. In additon to the bass we meet every pike that lives in the area and the occasional musky. Usually 5 days of unending action. Boat is always full of weeds grass and blood at the end of the day. Just kidding about the blood.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
